Islamic Karimov Net Worth: Islam Karimov is the first and only president of the Central Asian Republic of Uzbekistan with a net worth of $1 billion. He was born in Samarkand on January 30, 1938, to a Tajik mother and Uzbek father. Initially, he attended public schools and then entered the Central Asia Institute of Technology for an engineering degree.

He also obtained a degree in Economics from the Tashkent Institute of National Economics, and later became a member of the Academy of Sciences. Between 1961 and 1966 he worked as an aircraft engineer and chief specialist in the National Planning Office. He later served as the first deputy director of the State Planning Commission. In 1989, he became the first secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. Islam became president of the Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic in 1990, a year later proclaiming a republic and an independent state. On December 29, 2009, the country held its first presidential election, and he won 86 percent of the vote. The election was accused of being unfair. In 1995, his term was extended until 2000. He was again deemed arbitrary in the 2000 and 2007 elections. He has been accused of dictatorship and repression of political opponents. He is responsible for authorizing human rights violations in Uzbekistan, such as the 2005 Andean genocide. Talking about his personal life, he is married to economist Tatyana Akbarova Karimova. They have two daughters, Gulnara Karimova and Lola Karimova-Tillyaeva, and three granddaughters.
