Isaiah Thomas is a professional basketball player currently under contract with the Washington Wizards. He’s 5-foot-9 and plays point guard. His career has included teams such as the Sacramento Kings, Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers. Thomas was born on February 7, 1989, in Tacoma, Washington, to parents Tina and James. He is named after retired Hall of Famer basketball player Isiah Thomas. Thomas attended Curtis High School in Washington, followed by South Kent School in Connecticut. In 2008, he was named the nation’s top point guard.

Thomas continued his education and basketball career at the University of Washington. From 2008-2011, he played for the Huskies basketball team. Thomas was wearing the No. 2 jersey previously worn by the 5-foot-9 Nate Robinson. After averaging 15.5 points per game in 2008-09, he was named the Pac-10 Rookie of the Year. Thomas managed to improve his scoring and assists during his sophomore and junior years. He is a 2-time Pac-10 Tournament MVP and in 2011 was an All-America Honorable Mention.
Thomas was selected by the Sacramento Kings with the 60th overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft. He played three seasons with the Kings, averaging 20.3 points from 11.5 points per game. Thomas was traded to the Phoenix Suns in July 2014 and then to the Boston Celtics in February 2015. He finished the 2015-16 regular season with averages of 22.2 points, 6.2 assists and 3 rebounds per game. Thomas was the runner-up for the 2015 Sixth Man of the Year. He made his first All-Star Game in 2016. He was named to the All-NBA Second Team in 2017.
In August 2017, Thomas and several others were traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for Kyrie Irving. He played in 15 games and averaged 14.7 points. He was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in February 2018. As the Lakers, Thomas played 17 games and improved to 15.6 points per game. In July 2018, he was traded again to the Denver Nuggets. His first game with the Nuggets ended with a 2-point win over the Sacramento Kings. Thomas signed with the Washington Wizards in July 2019.
