Irving Oyston net worth
Owen Oyston is a British businessman and major shareholder of Blackpool Football Club with a net worth of $200 million. Born in Durham County in January 1934, Oyston became notorious for a rape charge he faced in 1996, for which he served three years in prison. Before that low point, Oyston was a student at St Joseph’s College, Blackpool, before dropping out at 16 to pursue a career in acting. He did make a small appearance in the 1970s court drama The Crown Court, but that was more or less the extent of his dreams of becoming a professional actor. Eventually, Oyston gave up the ghost in the 1950s and moved to London to start a small business and work as a sewing machine salesman. After little success in this less glamorous field, he returned to Blackpool and started a business in estate agency. He runs a company called Oyston Estate Agents with moderate success. This third career eventually became a glamour, and by the 1980s his agency was known as the UK’s largest. In the weeks before the stock market crash, he made a big deal with Royal Insurance. In 1987 Oyston purchased a major stake in Blackpool Football Club and was appointed owner of the club on 31 May 1988. He has carried out several major developments for the club and its stadium, delivering world-class quality. He has been an investor in major newspapers and commercial radio. Oyston married Vicki Burns in 1964 and they have two sons and three daughters. After their divorce, they remarried in 1988, but Oyston’s fourth daughter is said to be from another relationship. On June 13, 2008, a violent fire broke out in Alston’s home.
