Erin Jill Andrews was born on May 4, 1978 in Lewiston, Maine. Her father is a six-time Emmy Award winner and TV reporter Steven Andrews. Her mother is a school teacher. At the age of five, Irene and her family moved to San Antonio, Texas, where her father worked as an investigative reporter for an NBC affiliate. Andrews once said that she was a tomboy when she was growing up, and her whole life revolved around sports. When she was very young, she watched NBA games with her father. She admired the female sports anchors of that era, such as Hannah Storm, Melissa Stark and Susie Colber.
Irene Andrews then moved to Valrico, Florida, where she attended high school. As a high school student, she actively participated in extracurricular activities, joining the dance team, the student union and the National Honor Society. Stalking incident
In 2008, a stalker named Michael David Barrett managed to find the hotel where Erin Andrews was staying and then booked a room next to her . The man then used a peephole to film Andrews in her hotel room at the Nashville Marriott Hotel and the Radisson Airport Hotel in Milwaukee. In 2009, Barrett posted one of the videos on the Internet, which showed Irene Andrews naked.
This video went viral on the Internet and caused a considerable problem for Irene. She later stated that the incident had caused depression and she was often harassed by people who had watched the video. According to Andrews, people sent screenshots of the video to her personal Twitter account and abused her face to face.
In 2009, the FBI arrested Michael David Barrett on interstate stalking charges. He pleaded guilty and was charged with two and a half years in prison, three years of probation, and a fine and compensation of approximately $12,000. When the FBI arrested Barrett, they found another nude video of Andrews on his computer. Fortunately, the document has never been published on the Internet.
However, Andrews is not finished yet. She decided to sue Barrett, Marriott International, Radisson Hotel and five other entities for alleged violations of privacy.
