ILoveMakonnen is an American rapper, singer and songwriter. He gained fame with his 2014 hit single “Tuesday” starring Canadian rapper Drake. He has worked with OVO Sound and Warner Bros. Records. Other outstanding records include Rae Sremmurd’s “Sellin”, “Side to Side” and “Love”. Makonnen Sheran was born on April 12, 1989 in Los Angeles, California. He moved with his mother to Atlanta, Georgia when he was 13 years old. He graduated from North Clayton High School in University Park, Georgia. He studied at the beauty school of the American Academy of Beauty.

Makonnen began to pursue music in earnest when he was in his early 20s. His early projects include holiday specials (2011), trillion light years (2012), and drink plenty of water (2012). He is a member of the “Phantom Posse” band. Makonnen interacted with artists such as Adele, Lil B and Soulja Boy. He also met record producers Mike Will Made It, Metro Boomin and Sonny Digital. He appeared in Mike Will Made It’s fifth mixtape Ransom (2014). Makonnen’s first EP ILoveMakonnen of the same name was released in July 2014. It produced two singles “I Don’t Sell Molly No More” and “Club Goin’ Up on a Tuesday”. Drake released a remixed version of “Tuesday” in August 2014. “Tuesday” ranked 12th in the Billboard 100 and was certified as a gold award by RIAA. It was nominated for the Grammy Award for best rap/song collaboration. The official video has been viewed more than 150 million times on YouTube.

Makonnen signed with Drake’s OVO Sound in September 2014. The label is released by Warner Bros. Records. His second EP iLoveMakonnen 2 was released in November 2015. These include songs featuring Santigold such as “Trust Me Danny”, “Second Chance” and “Forever”. He appeared on Carnage’s first studio album “Papi Gordo” (2015). Makonnen withdrew from OVO Sound in April 2016. He appeared in the songs “Kolony Anthem” and “How Else” on Steve Aoki’s fourth album Kolony (2017). He has collaborated with several other artists, including Lil Yachty, Gucci Mane and Fall Out Boy.
