Igor Kesayev Net Worth: Igor Kesaev is a Russian retail giant with a net worth of $2 billion. Kesaev has been a billionaire since 1998 as president of the diverse Mercury Group of Companies. Born Igor Albertovich Kesaev in the Russian Republic of North Ossetia in 1967, he graduated from the prestigious Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO).
Shortly after graduating in 1991, he founded the first Mercury company, initially dealing with the importation of food and alcohol. Over the years, it has expanded its adoption of new companies and is today the largest tobacco distributor in Russia with a combined turnover of more than $15 billion. One of the largest subsidiaries of the Mercury Group is DIXY, Russia’s third largest food retailer, in which Kesaev holds a controlling stake. The group has 8 distribution centers to supply DIXY stores in key areas. It also has a fleet of trucks that help optimize shipping costs and ensure timely delivery to stores. In 2005, Mr. Kesaev bought a stake in oil company Sibir Energy, but four years later he sold the stake to state-controlled Gazpromneft. In late 2012, he went on to sell (through his team) five of the 75-storey pink mirrored Mercury Towers in Moscow to Japan Tobacco International (JTI), the tallest building in Europe.
