Hoda Kotb is an American news anchor and TV presenter. She is best known as the co-host of the fourth hour of the NBC Today Show. She also serves as a reporter for Dateline NBC. Kotb was born in Norman, Oklahoma on August 9, 1964, to Egyptian parents AK and Sameha. She has two siblings, Adel and Hara. Kotb attended Ford Hunter High School, followed by Virginia Tech. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism in 1986. From 2010 to 2013, she served on the board of directors of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association.

After graduating from university, Kotb moved to Cairo, Egypt, where she worked briefly as a press assistant at CBS News. After returning to the United States, she served as the anchor of WQAD-TV and WXVT-TV. From 1989 to 1991, Kotb worked as a weekend anchor and reporter at WINK-TV in Fort Myers, Florida. From 1992 to 1998, she worked as an anchor/reporter at WWL-TV in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Kotb joined Dateline NBC in April 1998 as a reporter. She hosted the fourth hour of NBC’s “Today Show” with Kathie Lee Gifford. The show won a Daytime Emmy in 2010 for its outstanding morning show. She was appointed as the co-anchor of “Today” in January 2018. Kotb’s autobiography “Horda: How I Survive in the War Zone, Bad Hair, Cancer and Kathy Lee” was published in 2010 by Simon & Schuster. Her other publications include “Ten Years Later (2013)” and “Where do they belong (2016)”.
