Henry Cheng was born in Shunde, Guangdong, China in 1946, the son of Zheng Yutong, the founder of New World Development. Henry Cheng graduated from the University of Western Ontario and is currently the chairman of New World Development and Chow Tai Fook Jewellery, the world’s largest jeweller. He is also the chairman of New World Chain Properties, NWS Holdings, New World Department Store China and Taifook Securities. Mr. Cheng is a member of the Standing Committee of the Eleventh Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference. He was the first to support Chen Maobo, the head of the China Development Bureau, in the scandal. He has four children, including entrepreneur Zheng Zhigang. In 2005, Henry Cheng and Vincent Lo were sued by Donald Trump for $1 billion. Cheng joined a consortium that invested in I-Cable in 2017.
