Henry Cavill is a British film and television actor. He is best known for the films Iron Man and the Tudors series. Cavill was born on 5 May 1983 in Jersey, Channel Islands. His father “Colin” was a stockbroker and his mother “Marianne” worked in the banking industry. Cavill attended Stowe boarding school in Buckinghamshire. His early interest in acting led him to participate in various school plays and productions.

Cavill made his debut in the 2001 thriller Laguna. A year later, he played “Albert Mondego” in The Count of Monte Cristo. Directed by Kevin Reynolds, the film was a box-office success. Other early films include I Capture the Castle (2003), Hellraiser: Hellworld (2005) and Red Riding Hood (2006). In 2007, Cavill starred as “Charles Brandon” on the Showtime series The Tudors. From 2007 to 2010, he appeared in 38 episodes. The series was nominated for a Golden Globe in 2007, followed by an Emmy in 2008.

In 2011, Cavill played the character “Theseus” in Tarsem Singh’s film Immortals. A year later, he starred alongside Bruce Willis in the action film “Bright Days.” Cavill played “Clark Kent” in the 2013 Superman film “Iron Man.” He won the MTV Movie Award for Best Hero. Other notable mentions include The Man from UNCLE (2015), and the upcoming superhero movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016).
