Happy Goodman Family Net Worth: The Happy Goodmans are a Southern gospel band with a net worth of $2 million. The group was founded by Howard “Happy” Goodman in the 1940s with Vestal (Howard’s wife), Sam and Rusty. Around 1950, the Goodmans began to be recognized for their great singing voice.
But it was in the early 1960s that their popularity grew significantly. Their appearance at the National Quartet Convention had their promoters booking them nationwide. They joined Gospel Singing Jubilee, a Southern gospel show that brought together three other gospel bands, of which the Happy Goodman Family became one of the most popular. Soon they were the most popular singing family in America with their weekly TV show “With the Happy Goodmans.” Along the way, the Goodmans won two Grammys, one for 1967 and one for the 1977 albums The Happy Gospel of the Happy Goodmans and Refreshing. The Happy Goodman Family introduces several songs and hymns that are considered Gospel classics. During the 1960s and 1970s, the family also introduced live bands and unique gospel music. The group split in 1980 due to stylistic differences, but plans to record another record in 1990 when Rust was diagnosed with cancer. Rusty died in November of that year, and the album included the last song he wrote, “Stand Before the King,” making it one of their best albums. Their last project was released in 2001, titled “The Last Stand”.
