Guy Hamilton is a British film director, best known for directing four James Bond films. He was born in Paris, France on September 16, 1922, to British parents. Hamilton returned to London in 1939 as a teenager. Before serving in the Royal Navy, he briefly worked for Paramount News Short Film Company.

Hamilton began his career as an assistant director of Carol Reed. Their first project was “Fallen Idol (1948)”, and then “The Third Man” (1949). Hamilton first served as the director in the 1952 low-cost suspense film “Ringer”. He followed up with the intruder (1953), the story of Colditz (1955), and the disciple of the devil (1959). Most of his early movies were based on military/warfare themes.
Hamilton directed his first James Bond film “Gold Finger” in 1964. The film starred Sean Connery, Horno Blackman and Gert Frob. In 1965, “Golden Finger” became the first Bond film to win an Oscar. Hamilton also directed “Diamond Eternity” (1971) starring Sean Connery, followed by “Life and Death (1973)” and “Man with the Golden Gun (1974)” starring Roger Moore. Hamilton’s other famous films include Funeral in Berlin (1966), Evil in the Sun (1982) and Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins (1985). In 1989, after his last film “Try This One for Size”, he retired from his career as a director.
