Greta Van Susteren is an American journalist, news anchor and former TV host for Fox News. She was born on June 11, 1954 in Appleton, Wisconsin. Her mother, Margery, is a children’s author and homemaker, and her father, Urban, is a judge and campaign manager for Joseph McCarthy. She has two siblings, Lise and Dirk. Van Susteren attended Xavier High School and studied economics at the University of Wisconsin. She completed her Juris Doctorate at Georgetown University in 1979, followed by an LLM degree in 1982.

Van Susteren was an adjunct professor at the Georgetown Law Center (1984-99) for 15 years. She received honorary Juris Doctor degrees from Georgetown University and Stetson School of Law. Van Susteren signed with CNN in 1991 as a legal analyst. She contributed to many cases, including OJ Simpson’s 1994 murder trial. Van Susteren hosts “The Point with Greta Van Susteren” and co-hosts “Burden of Proof” during CNN.
Van Susteren joined Fox New in January 2002 following a bidding war with CNN. From 2002 to 2016, she hosted the prime-time show “On the Road.” She interviewed Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, Oz Osborn, Mike Tyson and Billy Graham among others. Van Susteren left Fox News in September 2016 and signed with NBC News in January 2017. She will host the evening news and political show “For the Record” on MSNBC.
Van Susteren received the Excellence in Media Award in 2015. She is also a board member of the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation.
