Greta Scacchi was born in Milan, Italy in 1960 as Greta Graco and moved to Australia with her mother after her parents divorced. She studied at the University of Western Australia, where she made her stage debut in the production of “Morning Morning”.

In 2007, she was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Motion Picture for her performance in “Broken Circuit.” Her other performance credits include “Broken”, “Turtle Beach”, “Odyssey”, “Macbeth”, “Finding Ali Brandi”, “Flight Plan”, “Apocalypse”, “Hindenburg” and “Apocalypse” Gatha Christie’s Poirot”. Scacchi is fluent in four languages, including French, German and Italian. She married American actor Vincent D’Onofrio in 1989, and they had their first child together in 1992 and divorced a year later. In 1998, Scacchi gave birth to a son whose father was her cousin. Scacchi is an avid environmentalist, working with Greenpeace and Christian Aid.
