Grayson Allen is an American professional basketball player for the Utah Jazz. He’s 6-foot-5 and plays the shooting guard position. Allen was born on October 8, 1995 in Jacksonville, Florida. His father William was a contractor and his mother Shirley worked in human resources. Allen graduated summa cum laude from Providence School in 2014 with an AP Diploma. He served as the vice-president of the school’s student union. He continued his studies at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. He was selected in the 2018 NBA draft.

Allen started his basketball career at the Providence School in Jacksonville under head coach Jim Martin. He led the team to an impressive 90-10 record and a state championship. He won a silver medal at the 2013 Nike Global Challenge. Allen averaged 22.8 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game as a senior. He was named to the MaxPreps All-American Fifth Team, the 2014 McDonald’s All-American Game and the 2014 Jordan Brand Classic.
Allen played 35 games in his freshman season with the Duke Blue Devils, averaging 4.4 points. He finished the season with honors on the all-ACC academic team. As a sophomore, his averages improved to 21.6 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.5 assists. Duke won the 2015 NCAA Championship with a final 68-63 victory over the Wisconsin Badgers. In 2016, Allen was named to the ACC first team. He also received Second-Team All-American honors from The Sports News and Third-Team All-American honors from The Associated Press and NABC. Allen was selected by the Utah Jazz with the 21st overall pick in the 2018 NBA draft.
