Goldie Hawn is an American actress, director and producer. She is also a former dancer and occasional singer. Her film credits include Cactus Flower, Private Benjamin and the Bangor Sisters. Goldie Jeanne Hawn was born on November 21, 1945 in Washington, DC, to her mother, Laura, a jewelry wholesaler, and her father, Edward, a band musician. She has two siblings, Patricia and Edward. Horn attended Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, Maryland. She studied drama at American University but never completed her degree.

Horn began taking tap and ballet lessons at the age of 3. She was a dancer in the 1955 stage play The Nutcracker. Her early works include Romeo and Juliet (1961) and Kang Kang (1964). Horn made her television debut as “Sandy Kramer” on the CBS sitcom Good Morning, World (1967-68). She appeared on the 64-episode sketch comedy show Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In (1968-70). She was nominated for two Emmys for her contributions to the show.
Horn made her feature film debut as a dancer in the Disney musical film The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band (1968). She then played “Toni Simmons” in the comedy “Cactus Flower” (1969). She won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Toni. Horn played “Lou Jean Poplin” in Steven Spielberg’s crime film “The Sugar Land Express” (1974). She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress for her role as “Judy Benjamin” in Private Benjamin (1980).
Other notable films include Foul Play (1978) with Chevy Chase, Best Friends (1982) with Burt Reynolds, Bird on a Wire (1990) with Mel Gibson, Housesitter (1992) with Steve Martin ) and Death Becoming Her (1992) Willis with Bruce. She collaborates with Amy Schumer in the upcoming comedy film Mother and Daughter (2017).
In addition to acting, Horn is known for her 1972 pop country album Goldie. The album was released by Reprise Records. It was led by the singles “My Blue Tears”, “Wynken, Blynken and Nood” and “Butterfly”. Hawn’s other songs include “Pitta Patta (1972)” and “You Don’t Own Me (1997)”. She founded the Horn Foundation in 2003. Her memoir, A Lotus Grows in Mud, was published by Berkeley Books in 2005.
