Kim Victoria Cattrall was born on August 21, 1956 in the Mosley Mountains of Liverpool. She is the daughter of secretary Gladys Shane and construction engineer Dennis Cattrall. When she was three months old, her family moved to Canada and settled in British Columbia. At the age of 11, her grandmother fell ill and she returned to Liverpool.
She took acting classes at the London School of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA), but moved back to Canada only a year later. Cattrall graduated from Georges P. Vanier High School early in 1972 and moved to New York City at the age of 16 to start her acting career.
Screen career
In New York, Catrol studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Art. After graduation, she signed a five-year film contract with director Otto Preminger. Before her contract was bought out by Universal Studios, her first movie role appeared in the 1975 action thriller “Rosebud”.
