Goddowney is a Canadian rock musician and the lead singer of the rock band The Tragically Hip. His records include Coke Machine Glow (2001), The Grand Bounce (2010) and Secret Path (2016). He is also a writer and occasional actor. Gordon Edgar Downie (Gordon Edgar Downie) was born on February 6, 1964 in Amherst View, Ontario, Canada. His parents are Edgar Charles and Lorna. He has four siblings, including brothers Mike and Patrick. Downey grew up in the suburbs of Kingston, Ontario. He studied at Kingston University and Vocational College. He also attended Ernestown Middle School and Queen’s University.

Downie co-founded the Canadian rock band The Tragically Hip in 1983. The current members are Paul Langlois (guitarist), Rob Baker (guitarist), Gord Sinclair (bassist) and Johnny Fay (drummer). They have released 14 studio albums, 2 live albums and more than 50 singles. Their 9 albums topped the Canadian album charts. They have won multiple honors, including 16 Juno Awards. The Hip began to perform cover songs at local venues. They caught the attention of MCA Records, who offered them a record contract. Their first studio album Up to Here was released in September 1989. Downie’s first solo album, Coke Machine Glow, was released on the Zoe label in July 2001. It combines alternative rock and spoken language. Two years later, Rounder Records released his second album Battle of the Nudes. Downie’s best performing solo album Secret Path was released in October 2016. It ranks fourth on the Canadian album chart. His other projects include The Grand Bounce (2010) and Introduce Yourself (2017). He collaborated with The Sadies on the joint album And the Conquering Sun (2014).
In addition to music, Downey is also a writer and actor. He has a cameo appearance in the romantic comedy “Man with a Broomstick” (2002) starring Paul Gross. He played a policeman in Mike Kratenberg’s “Trailer Park Boys: The Movie” (2006). His works include theatrical movies “Nothing Big” (2008) and “One Week” (2008). He appeared in the CTV sitcom “Corner Gas”. Downie’s publications include Coke Machine Glow (2001) and Secret Path (2016).
