Gil Meche is a former American professional baseball player who has a net worth of $20 million. Born on September 8, 1978 in Lafayette, Louisiana, Meche is a right-handed pitcher who made his Major League Baseball debut on July 6, 1999 with the Seattle Mariners. Playing for just two MLB teams, Meche’s career statistics include an 84-83 win-loss record, a 4.49 scoring average, and a total of 1,050 strikeouts.
After coaching with the Mariners, Meche joined the Kansas City Royals in 2007 and joined him in Major League Baseball on October 3, 2010. He became an All-Star in 2007 and AL Comeback Player of the Year in 2003. He attended Arcadiana High School, where he pitched for the varsity team and participated in the Junior Olympics, where he won a gold medal at the 1995 World Junior Baseball Championship. He also won the Most Valuable Pitcher award at the 1995 National Amateur All-Star Game. Meche chose to retire from Major League Baseball in January 2011 after suffering shoulder and long-term back injuries. He currently lives in Mansfield, Texas and is engaged to his partner Stacey.
