Geraldo Rivera is an American talk show host, journalist, lawyer, and writer. He hosted the talk show Geraldo (1987-98) and the TV news magazine Geraldo at Large (2005-14). His works include The Five, Good Morning America and 20/20. Gerald Michael Rivera was born on July 4, 1943 in Brooklyn, New York. His mother Lillian is a restaurant worker, and his father Cruz is a taxi driver. He has three brothers and sisters, Craig, Irene and Sharon. Rivera graduated from West Babylon High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Arizona (1965) and a juris doctor degree from the Brooklyn School of Law (1969). He also studied at the University of Pennsylvania and Columbia University.

His other published works include Puerto Rico: An Island of Contrast (1973) and Great Progress: How Hispanics Will Lead America to a New Era of Prosperity (2009). Rivera has won multiple Emmy Awards for journalism. His honors include the Robert Kennedy Journalism Award and the George Foster Peabody Award.
