George Aguiros Net Worth: George Argyros is an American real estate tycoon with a net worth of $2.3 billion. Born George Leon Argyros in Detroit, Michigan in 1937, George Argyros started his career running a grocery store before Argyros turned to buying and selling real estate.
Currently, he serves as CEO and Chairman of Arnel & Affiliates, a real estate company with approximately 2 million square feet of commercial real estate and more than 5,500 apartments in Orange County, San Diego and Los Angeles. A graduate of Chapman University, Argyros is a co-founder of private equity firm Westar Capital and a board member of software development company DST Systems. He also served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the California Institute of Technology and is now a member of the Board of Directors of the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C. In addition, Argyros served as the U.S. ambassador to Spain and Andorra under President George W. Bush, and was the proud owner of the baseball team the Seattle Mariners from 1981 to 1989. In addition, Argyros has served on many boards and his Argyros Foundation has made substantial donations to various causes, including the Eisenhower Medical Center Foundation, Chapman University and the South Coast Repertory. Three years ago, he and his wife, Julia, donated $5 million to the Gavin Herbert Eye Institute.
