Born on July 23, 1957 in Makhachkala, Russia, Gavril Abramovich Yushvaev moved to Moscow very young. There, he ended up in prison for robbery in 1980. After his release in 1989, he immediately started doing business. In the early 1990s, he founded Trinity, which owns one of Moscow’s first casinos, a car dealership and Metelitsa, a popular dance club in Moscow. He later bought a stake in Wimm-Bill-Dann and sold its 19.6% stake to PepsiCo for $1.1 billion. In 2013, he teamed up with billionaire Zelimkhan Mutsoev to buy a 38 percent stake in gold producer Polyus Gold for $3.6 billion. He also teamed up with Vladislav Doronin, the ex-boyfriend of supermodel Naomi Campbell, and the pair invested $300 million in a 4.3 million-square-foot real estate development in Moscow. The massive estate will reportedly include an 85-storey tower containing a boutique hotel, offices, a function room and parking for 3,900 cars.
