Gautam Singhania is the current Chairman and Managing Director of Raymond Group, one of India’s largest retailers of branded fabrics and fashion. Born to industrial parents on September 9, 1965, Singana joined the family’s JK Group at the age of 21.
At the time, he was already a graduate of Bombay Cathedral School. He assumed the position of Managing Director in July 1999 and became Chairman in September 2000. Under his leadership, the company grew and shifted its focus from producing steel and cement to men’s clothing, fabrics, toiletries and condoms. His extracurricular passion for cars, boats and planes led him to form the first known Indian Super Car Club. He also owns a nightclub called Poison in Bandera. He currently lives in Mumbai and is currently building a skyscraper 10 stories taller than the residential complex of Antilla.
