Floor Jansen is a Dutch singer/songwriter and voice coach. She is probably best known for being the lead singer of the symphonic metal band “Nightwish” and the previous “After Forever”. Her recordings include After Forever (2007) and Endless Forms Most Beautiful (2015). She also collaborates with the “ReVamp” and “Star One” groups. Jansen was born on February 21, 1981 in Goirle, the Netherlands. She has a younger sister, Irene, who is also a singer. Jensen initially wanted to study biology. In the late 1990s, she studied music at the Dutch Rock Academy. She studies music/opera, rock and metal.

Jansen joined the band “Apocalypse” at the age of 16. They later changed their name to After Forever. Over the years, members include Mark Jansen, Andre Borgman and Sander Gommans. After Forever’s first studio album “Transmission Records”, Transmission Records was released in April 2000. They published 4 other items on the transmission label, Decipher (2001), Exordium (2003), Invisible Circles (2004) and Remagine (2005). In April 2007, Nuclear Blast Records released the fifth album After Forever. It ranked No. 6 on the Dutch album charts with songs such as “Energize Me” and “Equally Destructive”. After Forever was disbanded in early 2009, Jansen formed his own metal band “ReVamp” at the end of 2009. Other members include Ruben Wijga, Jaap Melman, Jord Otto, Arjan Rijnen and Matthias Landes. ReVamp’s first album of the same name was released in May 2010. Their second complete project, Wild Card, was subsequently released in August 2013. It is number 31 on the Finnish album chart and number 31 on the British rock chart.

In 2012, Jensen temporarily replaced Anette Olzon as the lead singer of Nightwish. After their Imaginaerum world tour, she was permanently added in 2013. Nightwish’s 8th album Endless Forms Most Beautiful was released in March 2015 and topped the Finnish album chart. It sold more than 100,000 copies in Finland and 60,000 copies in the United States. The album was supported by the singles “Elan”, “Endless Forms Most Beautiful” and “My Walden”. Nightwish’s seventh album “Decades” is scheduled to be released in March 2018. Jansen is also known for his collaboration with the avant-garde metal supergroup Star One. They released multiple projects, including Space Metal (2002), Living on Earth (2003) and Modern Victims (2010). Jansen appeared in Arjen Anthony Lucassen’s music project Ayreon. She also collaborated with the Avalon and Nightmare bands.
