Faith Evans is an American singer-songwriter, record producer, actor and writer with a net worth of US$3 million. In 1994, she became the first female artist to sign with Puff Daddy’s Bad Boy Entertainment, and her first two albums were certified platinum. Evans joined Capitol Records in 2003 and released “The First Lady” in 2005. That album topped the “Billboard” R&B/Hip-Hop album chart. Faith is also known as the widow of the notorious BIG (Christopher Wallace), who was murdered in 1997. She recorded a tribute song “I will miss you” with Puff Daddy and 112. This song won Evans a Grammy Award in 1998. It is also on the “Billboard” Top 100 and R&B charts, as well as in the UK , New Zealand, Australia and the Netherlands ranked first.
She has released seven studio albums and sold more than 12 million copies. Faith made her debut in the 2000 film “Turn It Up”. In 2008, she published her autobiography “Keep The Faith: A Memoir” and won the 2009 African American Literature Award for Best Biography.

Faith Evans, formerly known as Faith Renée Evans, was born on June 10, 1973 in Lakeland, Florida. Her mother Helene is a singer, and her father Richard Swain (musician) left Helene before Faith was born. Six months later, Helen and Faith moved to Newark, New Jersey. Evans was raised by Johnny May (Helen’s cousin) and Ovelt Kennedy, while Helen pursued a career in singing. The Kennedys are the adoptive parents of more than 100 children, and Faith lives in their home. Helen returned a few years later and moved to the Kennedy house because Evans did not want to leave. Faith grew up in a Christian family and started singing in church at the age of 2. She attended Newark University High School, where she performed with many jazz bands, and graduated in 1991. Evans studied at Fordham University in New York City and planned to study marketing, but a year later, she dropped out and had a daughter, Chyna, whose father was music producer Kiyamma Griffin.
Music career
Evans moved to Los Angeles in 1993. When she sang accompaniment for Al B. Sure!, she attracted the attention of Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs, who signed with Bad Boy Entertainment in 1994. She participated in Mary J’s album. Blige and Usher before the release of her first album “Faith” in August 1995. The album ranked second on the R&B/Hip-Hop album chart, and her follow-up album “Keep the Faith” (1998) reached number 6 in the “Billboard” 200. In 1997, she reported to the late Husband salutes, “I will miss you”, and ranked 11th week on the “Billboard” Hot 100 list for 11 weeks. Faith’s third album “Faithfully” (2001) won the gold medal, and the single “I Love You” composed by Jennifer Lopez ranked second on the “Billboard” popular R&B/Hip-Hop song chart.
Her first album “The First Lady” in collaboration with Capitol Records ranked second in the “Billboard” 200 and won a gold award. That year, she also released the holiday album “Faithful Christmas”. Evans created the record label Prolific Music Group in 2010 and recorded the record company’s first album in collaboration with Snoop Dogg, Raekwon, Keyshia Cole and Redman. Acting career
Faith appeared in dramas when she was a teenager. In 2000, she co-starred in the movie “Turn It Up” with Ja Rule, Pras and Jason Statham. Then, she played nightclub singer/single mother MaryAnn Hill in 2003’s “The Fighting Temptations”, which also starred Cuban Gooding and Beyoncé. On August 4, 1994, Faith married the rapper Christopher “Notorious Big” Wallace after meeting him in a photo shoot, and gave birth to a son, Christopher George Jr., on October 29, 1996. In June of the same year, Tupac Shakur released a track “Hit’Em Up”, claiming to have an affair with Faith (distanced from Wallace), and she was involved in hip-hop competitions on the East Coast and West Coast. On March 9, 1997, Wallace was killed in a car shooting in Los Angeles; at the time of writing, his murder has not been solved. In early 1997, Missy Elliott introduced Evans to record company executive Todd Russaw and established a relationship with him during her separation from Wallace. Faith and Todd welcomed their son Joshua on June 10, 1998, and married later in the summer of the same year. On March 22, 2007, they had their second son, Ryder.
In January 2004, Evans and Russaw were arrested for improper labeling violations in Atlanta, Georgia, and were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and cocaine. They agreed to participate in a 13-week drug treatment program in order to drop the charges. In 2010, Faith was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving in Marina Delray, California, and filed for divorce the following year. On July 17, 2018, she continued to marry producer/”Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta” star Steven Jordan, and attacked him in their Los Angeles home in May 2020, and Arrested for felony domestic violence; these charges were later dropped.
Awards and nominations
Evans has received seven Grammy nominations and won the best rap performance in a duo or group in 1998 with “I Will Miss You”. This song also won her the Soul Train Award for Best R&B/Soul or Rap Music Video and two MTV European Music Awards nominations. In 2018, Faith was named the Soul Train Lady of Soul of Soul, and was nominated for the Best R&B/Soul or Rap Newcomer Award and R&B/Soul Album of the Year-Female (“Faith”) in 1996.
