Ezekiel Elliott is an American professional football player for the Dallas Cowboys. He is 6 feet tall and serves as a running back. He was selected in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Ezekiel Elijah Elliott was born on July 22, 1995 in St. Louis, Missouri. His father Stacy is a football guard at the University of Missouri, and his mother Dawn is a track and field athlete. He has two sisters, Laila and Aaliyah. Elliott attended John Burroughs School, followed by Ohio State University. He majored in marketing.

Elliott started his football career at John Burroughs School under the leadership of coach Gus Frerotte. He is also very competitive in basketball, track and field and baseball. He has won 4 track and field championships in the Missouri State III Championships. In football, Elliott was named the best offensive player of the year after St. Louis dispatched in 2012. As a senior, he recorded a total of 3,061 yards and 50 total touchdowns. He also participated in the 2013 U.S. Army National Bowl. Elliott is called a four-star rookie by Scout, Rivals, ESPN and 247Sports. He devoted himself to Ohio State University, where he played for three seasons from 2013 to 2015. As a true freshman, he sprinted for 262 yards and 2 touchdowns in 30 rushes. He served as the starting running back for the Buckeyes in the 2014 and 2015 seasons. Buckeyes won the 2014 Top Ten Championship and the CFP National Championship. Elliott was named the top ten most valuable player in 2015. Other college honors include the top ten best team first team (2015), the second team of the United States (2015), and the top ten offensive player of the year (2015). He also won the 8th place in the 2015 Heisman Trophy.

Elliott was selected by the Dallas Cowboys with the 4th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. He signed his rookie contract in May 2016. He was named the starting running back for the 2016 season before Alfred Morris and Darren McFadden. Elliott led the 2016 NFL season with 1,631 yards. He also ended the season with 15 touchdowns. He was selected for the first team All-Pro (2016) and Pro Bowl (2016). He was also named the 2016 NFL Rookie of the Year by the Professional Football Writers Association (PFWA).
