Eric Schmidt is an American businessman and philanthropist with a net worth of 28 billion U.S. dollars. Eric Schmidt is best known as the former CEO of Google.
early life
Eric Schmidt was born in Washington, DC in 1955. His childhood was spent in Blacksburg, Virginia. He studied at Yorktown High School and then entered Princeton University with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. He continued his education at the University of California, Berkeley, where he obtained a master’s degree, and then went on to receive a doctorate in EECS. He is also an adjunct professor at the Stanford Business School.

Early career
Prior to joining Google, Eric held positions at Bell Labs, Novell, Palo Alto Research Center, Zilog, and Sun Microsystems. At Sun, he was promoted all the way from director of software engineering to vice president and general manager of Sun Microsystems’ software product division. During his time at Novell, he served as Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer.
Eric was interviewed by Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin at a key Pre-IPO time during Google’s founding. He became chairman and CEO of Google in 2001. He served as CEO until 2011.
He served as an executive until December 2017, when he announced that he had completely stepped down after 17 years with the company.

According to the company’s recent filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, Eric Schmidt owns approximately 1.3% of Google (now known as Alphabet). He also owns approximately 4.3 million C-category Alphabet shares. In the past ten years, Eric has sold approximately $3.5 billion worth of Google stock.

As we all know, Eric is very active politically. Perhaps more active than the chairman/CEO of a company like Google.
Eric is a staunch supporter of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. During the defeat of Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, Schmidt was essentially a staff member of her campaign team. At the victory party that should be her election night, Schmidt was photographed wearing Clinton’s “staff” badge backstage.
