Ellie Goulding is a British singer, songwriter and instrumentalist. She was born Elena Jane Goulding on December 30, 1986 in Hereford, England. At 14, she started playing guitar and composing her own music. She attended Lady Hawkins’ High School, followed by Sixth Form College at Hereford. Goulding became acquainted with electronic music while studying at the University of Kent. She was hired by Jamie Lillywhite in a college talent competition.

Goulding signed with Polydor Records in 2009 and released her debut studio album Lights in 2010. Her album debuted on the UK charts and received positive reviews from music critics. Goulding’s second album, Halcyon, was released in 2012 and became her first top 10 debut in the United States. Her 2015 single “Love Me Like You Do” was used as the soundtrack to the film “Fifty Shades of Grey”. Goulding’s third album, Delirium, was released in 2015 and featured the singles “On My Mind”, “Army” and “Something in the Way You Move”.

Goulding has won 17 of her 66 nominations. She has won 4 BMI London Awards, 2 Brit Awards and was nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance at the 2016 Grammys. She also won the Harper’s Bazaar Woman of the Year Award in 2015.
