Ellen McFarland Net Worth: Alan Macfarlane is a British author, historian, anthropologist and professor with a net worth of $60 million. Alan Macfarlane was born in Assam, India in December 1942. He began his formal education at Sedberg School in Yorkshire. He later went to Oxford to study history and then to London to study anthropology.
There, he received his master’s and doctorate degrees. After completing his formal education, he started working as a Senior Research Fellow at King’s College. Next, he became a lecturer and professor of anthropology at the University of Cambridge. In 1986 he was introduced as a Fellow of the British Academy. He is currently a full-time professor of anthropological sciences at King’s College. During his fruitful career, he wrote about twenty books. He has written extensively on British history as well as Japanese, Chinese and Nepalese history. His book is largely based on field research he has done in respected areas over the years. In addition to books, he has written numerous articles for various scientific journals. Although he has conducted extensive field research in several regions of the globe, his most distinctive work is considered to be on the Gurung people of Nepal. During his field research, he recorded many videos and put them on the Internet for public viewing. In December 2000, he developed the Digital Himalayan Project with anthropologist Mark Turin. He is also actively involved in the World Oral Literature Project.
