Edir Macedo, a newcomer to the billionaire circle, is the chairman and owner of Rede Record, Brazil’s second-largest television network. Macedo, who grew up Catholic, converted to Pentecostalism in the early 1970s.
In 1977, he established his own denomination, the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God, in Rio de Janeiro.
