Edgar Mitchell (Edgar Mitchell) is an astronaut, naval pilot, test pilot and engineer for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). He is the lunar module pilot of Apollo 14 and the sixth terrestrial man to reach the surface of the moon. Mitchell believes that aliens exist, and the government is hiding the truth about UFOs from the public. He was born on September 7, 1930 in Hereford, Texas. He grew up in Artesia, New Mexico and is an active member of the Boy Scouts of America.

Mitchell holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management (1952) and Aeronautics (1961). In 1964, he received a Ph.D. in Aerospace Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He completed flight training in 1954 and flew A3 aircraft from 1957 to 1958. He was selected by NASA in 1966 and became the reserve pilot of Apollo 10 in 1969. Two years later, he served as a lunar module pilot on the Apollo 14 launched on January 31, 1971. Before retiring from NASA in 1972, he stayed in space for 216 hours and 42 minutes.

Edgar Mitchell died at the West Palm Beach Hospice Hospital on February 4, 2016, at the age of 85. His death occurred the day before the anniversary of his moon landing. He was married three times with his wife Louise Randall (1951-1972), Anita Rettig (1972-1984) and Sheilah Ledbetter (1989-1998). He has six children named Carlin, Elizabeth, Kimberly, Mary Beth, Adam and Richard. In 1970, President Richard Nixon awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
