Eddy Wally is a Belgian-born singer, songwriter and producer. He was also known for his flamboyant and expensive taste in clothing. He was born Edouard van der Waal on July 12, 1932 in Selzat, Belgium. He started out as a handbag salesman before dabbling in music.

Wally was discovered in the 1960s by Dutch producer Johnny Hoes. His hit single “Chérie” was released in 1965 and reached number one on the Belgian charts for eight consecutive weeks. Other notable songs include “I’ll Jump Out of a Plane” and “Dans Mi Amor”. Wally has performed all over the world, including China, Australia, Europe and the United States. He made several cameos on the TV show Eurotrash. He was also the subject of the internet meme “Wow.”
