Duane Hagadone Net Worth: Duane Hagadone is an American entrepreneur, developer and newspaper publisher with a net worth of $800 million. After dropping out of college, Duane Hagedone started working for his father’s newspaper and eventually became the owner of that publication, as well as many others. He is the head of Hagedorn, a very successful company with branches dedicated to publishing, hospitality and real estate.
Duane Hagadone was born in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho in 1932 and started several small businesses as a child, mostly mowing lawns and landscaping. At the age of eleven, he started contributing to the “Coeur d’Alene Press”, a local newspaper published by his father. Although Hagadone attended the University of Idaho, he soon left to work at the newspaper. He started by selling subscriptions, then moved to classifieds and advertising. Hagadone turned to Scripps for publishing support after his father’s death, and he quickly turned the newspaper into the company’s greatest success. In 1976, Hagadone bought the paper and several other newspapers and created the Hagadone Company. Today, he owns more than a dozen corporate holding companies, including Hagadone Newspaper Group, Coeur d’Alene Resort, Boardwalk Marina, Silver Beach Marina and Quicksilver Photography. He is the recipient of several awards, including the 2004 Horatio Alger Award and the 2006 Idaho Business Leader of the Year. Hagadone owns a 64,000-square-foot estate in Palm Desert, California, one of the largest in the region, and a 164-foot yacht called “Lady Lola” with its own helipad, golf course and submarine.
