Dr. Mehmet Oz is a Turkish-American cardiothoracic surgeon, writer and TV personality with a net worth of US$100 million. He is best known for his joint TV series “The Wizard of Oz Show”, which was launched in 2009 by Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Productions and Sony Pictures.
Oz co-authored several books with Michael F. Mehmet Oz, formerly known as Mehmet Cengiz Öz, was born on June 11, 1960 in Cleveland, Ohio. His parents Suna and Mustafa immigrated from Turkey, Mehmet and his two sisters Nazlim and Seval grew up in a mixed Muslim family (traditional on the father’s side and secular on the mother’s side). He attended Tashan School in Wilmington, Delaware, and then received a degree in biology from Harvard University in 1982. Oz played for the Harvard football team and helped the water polo team win the school championship.
In 1986, he received a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and an MBA degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Muhammad won the Captain Sports Award at the university. As a medical student, he served as the class leader and later became the chairman of the student union.
Mohammed’s father served as the director of thoracic surgery at the Delaware Medical Center for many years. After his death in 2019, Oz wrote on social media: “I remember when he was visiting the hospital as a child, he ran very fast… witnessing me After my father sometimes performed painful operations on critically ill patients, I fell in love with medicine. Dr. Oz founded the Cardiovascular Research Institute and Comprehensive Medicine Program of the New York Presbyterian Hospital in 1994. After making multiple appearances on the “Oprah Winfrey Show” for five seasons, Winfrey began producing the “Dr. Oz Show” through her production company. Mehmet married Lisa Lemole on June 29, 1985. They have four children, Daphne, Arabella, Zoe and Oliver. Their eldest daughter Daphne is a writer and TV presenter. Mehmet and Lisa founded HealthCorps, a non-profit organization dedicated to peer guidance and health education. Oz is a citizen of the United States and Turkey and speaks fluent English and Turkish. He is a devout Muslim and a supporter of Transcendental Meditation. In 2010, Mehmet underwent a routine colonoscopy for his show and found precancerous polyps in his intestines. In this experience, he said: “The only thing that makes me unable to bear the terrible results is that I check my stupid luck in participating in the show. I will postpone it like many people. But I bet it saves my life.” 2019 Oz participated in the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game in Charlotte, North Carolina and the All-Star Legends and Celebrity Softball Game in Cleveland, Ohio.
