Dr. Dre is an American rapper, music producer and entrepreneur. He was born Andre Romel Young on February 18, 1965 in Campton, California. Dre attended Pioneer Junior High as a child, but transferred to Roosevelt Junior High to avoid gang violence. From 1984 to 1985 he was a member of the electronic band “World Class Wreckin’ Cru” and from 1986 to 1991 he was a member of the gangster rap group “NWA”. He co-founded Death row Records in 1991 and released his debut studio album The Chronic the following year. The album was certified triple platinum by the RIAA and won a Grammy for the single “Let Me Ride”. He founded Aftermath Entertainment in 1996 and has worked with rappers such as 50 Cent and Eminem. Dre and Jimmy Lovine founded Beats Electronics in 2008. Apple acquired Beats in a $3 billion cash and stock deal in 2014. Over the years, he has won several awards, including six Grammys and two MTV Music Awards. He is alive and has an estimated net worth of $800 million.
