Doyle Brunson Net Worth: Doyle Brunson is an American professional poker player who has a net worth of $75 million. Doyle Brunson was born in Longworth, Texas in 1933 and has been a professional poker star for over 50 years. He grew up in a small town of about 100 people and was an all-state basketball player in Texas.
He attended Harding-Simons and was set to join the Minneapolis Lakers, but a knee injury ruined his career. After the injury, he honed his poker skills more seriously and earned a month’s salary in one game on his first day out of college. It didn’t take long for Brunson to quit sales to focus on poker full-time. Before his first trip to Vegas, he and his friends joined dozens of illegal games run by organized crime and lost everything. After that, Brunson parted ways with friends and started a solo career. He appears at the World Series of Poker almost every year. He won two WSOP titles and ten WSOP bracelets. Brunson is the author of the poker expert guide “Super/System,” which he self-published in 1978. In the mid-2000s, he updated the book and published it as “Super/System 2”, with contributions from other professionals such as David Sklansky, Chip Reese, and Bobby Baldwin. There are two Texas Hold’em cards named in honor of Brunson: 10s and 2s of any suit and Aces and Queens of any suit. He was the subject of an SEC investigation, but the action was dropped in 2007. Brunson has been married to his wife Louise since 1962. When she was pregnant, doctors found a tumor in Brunson’s neck and thought it was terminal. When Brunson underwent surgery to stay alive long enough to see his baby born, doctors found no cancer, and call it a miracle.
Louise had a similar experience with her own tumor, and their daughter’s scoliosis healed within three months. Brunson’s daughter died of a potassium overdose at the age of 18, and his son was also a professional poker player.
