Doug Martin is an American professional football player for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He’s 5-foot-9 at the running back position. Martin was born to parents Leslie and Douglas on January 13, 1989, in Oakland, California. He grew up in Stockton and attended St. Mary’s High School. Martin continued his education at Boise State University in Boise, Idaho. He majored in business.

As for football, Martin rushed for 1,950 yards and 18 touchdowns as a junior. He won the team’s MVP award in his senior year of high school. Martin chose Boise over California and Oregon. He played four seasons with the Boise State Broncos from 2007 to 2011. Martin started 25 of 51 games and finished with a record of 3,431 rushing yards and 48 touchdowns. He was named Maaco Bowl MVP in 2011. He was also named to the All-West Western Conference first team in 2011.

Martin was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the 31st overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. He was named starting running back for the Buccaneers in his rookie season. Martin returned to the Pro Bowl in 2013 and 2016. He was named to the PFWA Rookie Team of the Year in 2012 and the All-NBA First Team in 2015. Martin signed a five-year extension with the Buccaneers in 2016.
