Doris Day is an American singer, actress and animal rights activist. She was born on April 3, 1922 in Cincinnati, Ohio to parents William and Alma Kappelhoff. She has two siblings, Richard and Paul. Dai initially wanted to be a professional dancer. A car accident in 1937 injured her leg and forced her to choose a different career path.

In the late 1930s, Day began to sing and perform with local bands. She has worked with band leaders Barney Rapp, Bob Crosby and later Les Brown. Day recorded her first hits “Sentimental Journey” and “My Dreams Are Better All the Time”, which became popular in 1945. She parted ways with Brown in 1946 and made her debut in 1947. She has since recorded more than 600 songs on record companies. Columbia Records. Her personal works include “Love Somebody”, “My Love and Devotion” and “Let’s Walk That-A-Way”. For her contribution, she won the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008.

She played “Ruth Etin” in “Love Me or Leave Me” (1955) and “Joe” in Alfred Hitchcock’s “People Who Know Too Much” (1956). Day gained fame by playing the opposite role with Rock Hudson in the movie “Pillow Talk (1959)”. Her performance was nominated for an Oscar. Other notable films include “Mink Touch” (1962) with Gary Grant, “Thrilling” (1963) with James Garner, and “Do Not Disturb” (1965) with Rod Taylor year).
