Born Roy Donahue Peebles in Washington, D.C. in 1960, Don Peebles served as a congressman in high school and attended Rutgers University with plans to go to medicine hospital.
A year later, Peebles left the University of New Jersey to become a real estate agent in his hometown. At the age of 23, he founded his own real estate appraisal firm, RDP Corporation, and soon took a seat on the Equilibrium and Review Board in Washington. Soon after, the mayor of Washington named him chairman of the board. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Peebles acquired real estate assets, primarily development sites and commercial buildings, and became one of the top fundraisers for politicians and their campaigns. He eventually moved to Miami and moved his business to the Florida hotbed, building residences at the Bath Club and the Royal Palms. He is the majority owner of the Las Vegas Mardi Gras Hotel and Casino and an outspoken supporter of Democratic candidates, including Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. Peebles is the author of two novels, The Peebles Principles: The Story and Strategies of an Entrepreneur’s Lifetime of Winning Deals, Building a Successful Startup, and Creating Wealth from Scratch and Peebles’ Road to Real Estate Wealth: How to Make Money “In Any Market”.
