Dmitry Pumpyansky Net Worth: Dmitry Pumpyansky is a Russian businessman with a net worth of $1.6 billion. Although most of his wealth comes from making pipes, Pumpyansky has managed to move beyond the pipe production business. Born on March 22, 1964 in Ulan-Ude, Russia, he graduated from Ural State Technical University with a bachelor’s degree in metallurgy.
After graduating, he started working in trade and then oversaw several metal factories in the Urals throughout the 1990s. Next, Pumpyansky took over control of Sinarsky Pipe Factory before joining the pipeline business of billionaires Sergei Popov and Andrei, as he acquired a 35 percent stake in TMK Group, Russia’s largest pipe exporter. In late 2006, Pumpyansky acquired partial shares in Melnichenko and Popov, taking full ownership of TMK, which he listed on the London Stock Exchange and raised $1 billion. He was later forced to hand over control to state-owned banks as security for a $1.85 billion loan, but two years later, Pumpyansky managed to regain control of TMK. In addition to TMK, he now co-owns the Sinara Group with German industrial giant Siemens. Last year, he headed the supervisory boards of AgBank and Russia’s fourth-largest bank, Rosselkhozbank, and today Pumpyansky chairs the boards of Sinara Group and TMK. Through some of his companies, he also assisted in the refurbishment of the stadium that will host the 2018 World Cup in Yekaterinburg.
