What is the net worth of Diana Ross?
Diana Ross is a legendary American singer and actress with a net worth of $250 million. Originally a member of the popular band The Supremes in the 1960s, Ross continued to enjoy an extremely successful personal career. She is the only artist in history to have the number one song as a member of a solo, duet and trio. Among her various singing incarnations, Diana has sold more than 75 million albums worldwide.
Early life and career start
Diana Ross was born on March 26, 1944 in Detroit, Michigan, the second child of Ernestine and Fred Ross Sr. She attended Cass Technical High School in downtown Detroit and graduated in January 1962. There, she took courses in subjects such as fashion design, millinery, pattern making and tailoring, because her original desire was to become a fashion designer.
At the age of fifteen, Rose joined Primettes, a sister group of the male voice group Primettes. After winning a talent contest in Windsor, Ontario, Primettes received an audition invitation from Motown Records. Rose contacted former neighbor William “Smoky” Robinson, and he agreed to bring the Primate band to Motown in exchange for them to let him and his Marvel Band hire their guitarist Maftaplin. Motown executives were very impressed with Primette, but thought they were too young. Motown founder Berry Gordy then told them to come back after graduating from high school. Primettes were not discouraged. They often appeared at the Hitsville headquarters in Motown to provide recording assistance, from clapping hands to background vocals. In the end, Gordy signed a contract with the organization in January 1961, with the only condition that they changed their name. A year later, Barbara Martin left the band, leaving Rose, Florence Ballard and Mary Wilson as the remaining trio. Their new name is Supreme.
Supreme
Supremes enjoyed their first hit in Motown, “When the Lovelight Starts Shining through His Eye” (1963). It is ranked 23rd on the Billboard Hot 100 popular list. At the end of 1963, Gordy appointed Rose as the lead singer of the band. “Where is our love” (1964) was their first hit single, followed by a period of crazy success; between August 1964 and May 1967, Supremes won 10 hit singles, They became Motown’s most successful vocal performances in the 1960s.
Due to personal problems and alcoholism, Ballard was fired by Gody in 1967. He also renamed the organization, which is now Diana Ross & the Supremes. This new name means he can charge more for performances. He considered letting Rose leave the band, but decided to keep the band intact because they were still a successful and popular performance at the time. However, she began to undertake more and more individual projects outside of the group, including acting alone in TV specials such as the “Dinah Coast Show”. Rose’s first solo album of the same name was released with Motown in May 1970, followed by the albums “Everything is Everything” (1970) and “Surrender” (1971). At the end of 1971, she starred in her first personal TV special “Diana!” At the end of 1980, Rose began negotiations to leave Motown Records. After working with them for 20 years, she received $250,000 in severance pay from the label. Ross subsequently signed a seven-year contract with RCA Records worth 20 million US dollars, which was the most expensive record deal in history at the time. The first album she collaborated with RCA was “Why Do Fools Fall in Love” (1981), which was very successful and sold more than one million copies.

personal life
Rose has been married twice and has five children. She began dating Motown CEO Berry Gordy in 1965, and they have a daughter, Rhonda Suzanne Silberstein. However, Gordy did not help raise Rhonda, because Rose actually married music director Robert Ellis Silberstein in 1971 after she was two months pregnant. Although Silberstein knew who Ronda’s biological father was, he continued to raise Ronda. Rose continues to have two daughters with Silberstein, Tracy Joy and Chadney Lane. After Rose and Silberstein divorced in 1977, she moved to New York City.
Subsequently, Rose dated Kiss guitarist and singer Gene Simmons from 1980 to 1983.
In 1985, she met Arne Næss Jr., a Norwegian shipping giant, and married the following year. She became the stepmother of Næss’ three children. They have two sons, Ross Arne and Evan Olav Ross. Many years later, in 2014, Evan will marry singer Ashley Simpson. So Ashley Simpson is Diana Ross’s daughter-in-law. They have a daughter, and Evan is the stepfather of the child of Ashley’s first marriage to musician Pete Wentz.
After reports that Næss had another child with a woman in Norway, Ross and Næss divorced in 2000. Næss unfortunately died in a mountaineering accident in South Africa in 2004.

For many years, Diana’s main residence has been a large mansion in Greenwich, Connecticut. She put the 5-acre house on the market and sold it for 39.5 million US dollars in 2007.
