Desiigner is an American rapper, singer and songwriter. He is best known for his 2015 single “Panda”. His recordings include the mixtape, New English (2016). Desiigner was born Sidney Royel Selby III on May 3, 1997 in Brooklyn, New York. He grew up near Bedford-Stevenson. His family is from Barbados. His grandfather, Sidney Selby aka Guitar Crusher, was a blues musician.

As a member of the school choir and church, Desiigner began experimenting with music. He started with the alias “Dezolo”, then “Designer Royel” and finally “Desiigner”. His debut single “Panda” was released on YouTube and SoundCloud in December 2015. The track was released commercially in February 2016. The song peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. It was nominated for several awards, including a Grammy for Best Rap Performance.
In February 2016, Desiigner signed with Kanye West’s GOOD Music label. He later appeared on the singles “Pt. 2” and “Freestyle 4” from the album The Life of Pablo (2016). Desiigner’s debut mixtape New English was released in June 2016 by GOOD Music and Def Jam Recordings. It peaked at No. 22 on the Billboard 200 and featured guest artists Pusha T and King Savage. Desiigner appeared on the 2016 single “Champions” with West, Gucci Mane, Big Sean, 2 Chainz, Travis Scott, Yo Gotti and Quavo. He is currently working on his upcoming studio album The Life of Desiigner. The album’s first single, “Tiimmy Turner”, was released in July 2016.
In 2016, Desiigner appeared as a musical guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Wendy Williams Show and Jimmy Kimmel Live.
