At the age of six, Demond’s appendix ruptured, nearly killing him. He vowed to serve God as an adult in a ministry role. Wilson served in the U.S. Army and was wounded. He starred in both Broadway and Off-Broadway productions before moving to Hollywood, California. His first roles appeared in the 1971 film “Organization” and the TV series “Family Portrait: Impossible”. He is best known for his role as Lamont Sanford in the series Sanford and Son from 1972 to 1977. Wilson played Raymond Ellis in the 1977-1978 TV series “Baby, I’m Back.” From 1982 to 1983, he was in the TV series “Fantastic Couple”. From 2004 to 2005, he played the role of Kenneth Myers repeatedly on the Girlfriend series. Wilson also starred in the films Dealing: Or the Berkeley-to-Boston 40-Brick Lost-Bag Blues, Full Moon High, Me and the Kid and Hammerlock. He is an ordained pastor and founded Revival House in 1995. He has written Christian books, children’s books and his memoirs.
