Delonte West was born on July 26, 1983 in Washington, DC. He went to Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, then St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. During St. Joseph’s, Delonte and Jameer Nelson formed what is considered the best backcourt in the country.
West’s efforts helped St. Joseph’s University enter the Elite Eight in the 2004 NCAA Tournament.
NBA career
West was selected by the Boston Celtics with the 24th overall pick in the 2004 NBA Draft. Due to injuries, he played only 39 games in his first season. In his rookie season, West was named the starting point guard for the 2005-06 season. By the 2006-07 season, West was transferred to the position of shooting guard. However, luck is not on West’s side, because he struggled in the early stages and was later transferred back to point guard.
