David Rose is a retired American professional baseball player and 2-time World Series champion. He’s 6-foot-2 and has worked as a receiver in MLB. He is currently an analyst for ESPN and a special assistant for the Chicago Cubs. Ross was born on March 19, 1977 in Bainbridge, Georgia. He studied at Auburn University for two years and then at the University of Florida for a year.

Rose started his career as a member of the Florida High School Devils baseball team. His performance earned him an athletic scholarship to Auburn University. Rose played two seasons with the Auburn Tigers from 1996 to 1997. He led the team to the second round of the 1997 College World Series. Rose transferred to the University of Florida during the 1998 season. He entered the MLB draft at the end of his junior year.
Rose was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the seventh round of the 1998 amateur draft. Four years later, on June 29, 2002, he made his MLB debut. From 2002 to 2003, he hit six home runs in his first 27 career batting games. Rose played briefly with the Pittsburgh Pirates and later with the San Diego Padres. Before the 2006 season, he was traded to the Cincinnati Reds. He signed a 2-year contract with the Atlanta Braves in 2008, followed by a 2-year extension in 2010. Rose won his first World Series title in 2013 as a member of the Boston Red Sox. His second title was with the Chicago Cubs in 2016.
Ross has been selected as a contestant for the 24th season of Dancing with the Stars. He was the first baseball player to appear on the show. His partner is professional ballroom dancer Lindsay Arnold. Ross’ book Teammates: My Baseball Journey and the World Series through the ages is scheduled to be released by Hachette Books in May 2017.
