He has held positions with NBC Nightly News and NBC News Weekend Nightly News since 2005. After Don Imus was suspended, Gregory filled him on MSNBC. David became the host of NBC’s Meet the Press in December 2008, succeeding Tom Brokaw. The show’s ratings fell to an all-time low, and NBC announced that Gregory would be leaving the network in August 2014. David Gregory was reportedly paid $4 million when he left NBC.
