David D. Glass was an American businessman who had a net worth of US$800 million at the time of his death in January 2020. He is the owner and CEO of the Kansas City Royal Major League Baseball team. Glass gained wealth during his tenure as CEO of Wal-Mart, a position he held from 1988 to 2000.
David D. Glass was born in Oregon County, Missouri in September 1935. He graduated from Missouri State University and joined Walmart in 1976 as executive vice president of finance.
Glass became president and chief operating officer in 1984, and became CEO in 1988. He served as CEO until 2000.

In 1993, he became the interim CEO and chairman of the Kansas City Royals. In 2000, he acquired the team for 96 million U.S. dollars and became the sole owner. He was criticized for using the same cost-cutting strategy as Wal-Mart, but in the end the team won the World Series in 2015 after entering the World Series in 2014.
David sold the Royals for $1 billion in December 2019. Glass sold the team to John Sherman, a businessman from Kansas City and a former minority shareholder of the Cleveland Indians.
