He began appearing on “The Tonight Show” shortly after and quickly became the show’s most frequent guest, making nearly 160 appearances in his lifetime; Brenner also succeeded Johnny Carson for 75. In 1983, he released his comedy album Sorry, Are You Reading That Paper? ” and wrote his first book in the same year. Brenner is the author of five books, including “If God Wants Us to Travel…” and “I Think I Have a Terrorist in My Soup: How to Survive Personal and World Problems with Laughter – Seriously”.
