Dave Chapel is an American comedian, actor, screenwriter and producer. He is best known for creating the comedy sketch series Chappelle’s Show. His film works include “Half Baked”, “Blue Streak” and “Robin Hood: A Man in Tights”. David Khari Webber Chappelle was born in Washington, DC on August 24, 1973. His parents Yvonne and William are both professors. He has two siblings, William and Felicia. Chapel spent his childhood in Maryland, where he attended Woodling Elementary School.He later studied theater art at the Duke Ellington School of Art in Northwest Washington, D.C.

Chapel was inspired by comedians such as Bill Cosby, Richard Pryor and Eddie Murphy. He moved to New York City to pursue stand-up comedy instead of college. Chappelle made her debut in the feature film as “Ahchoo” in Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993). He is working on Undercover Blues (1993) with Kathleen Turner, “Professor Madness” with Eddie Murphy (1996) and Nicolas Cage’s scam (1997) as a supporting role. Chappelle co-wrote and starred in “Thurgood Jenkins”, also known as “Sir Smoka” in Stoner’s comedy “Half Baked” (1998). Other movie appearances include You Have Mail, Undercover Brothers, and Chi-Raq by Spike Lee.
Chapel appeared in the HBO special “Comic Relief VI” as a comedian as early as 1994. He then starred in some comedy specials, including “A Gentle Kill” in 2000. Chapel and Neil Brennan created the 2003 “Chappelle’s Show”, an Emmy-nominated comedy sketch series. The show was broadcast on Comedy Central from January 2003 to July 2006, with a total of 28 episodes. Chapel was the host of the 2006 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, California. He performed at Radio City Music Hall in June 2014, which was his first performance in New York in more than 10 years. He plans to host the Saturday Night Live with music guest A Tribe Called Quest on November 12, 2016.
