Darwin Deason net worth

Darwin Deason Net Worth: Darwin Deason is an American businessman who has a net worth of $1.1 billion. Darwin Deason, best known as the founder of Affiliated Computer Services, has made his classic transformation from rug to fortune, earning every penny of his own. A longtime resident of Dallas, Deason was a farm boy raised by a poor family who had no money to go to the movies.

Unable to pay for his education, Deason’s father had only $50 and a 1949 Pontiac to give to his son who had just graduated from high school. But it was enough to send Deason to the “big, bright city” of Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he quickly landed a job at Gulf Oil. A few years later, he joined MTech, a Dallas-based data processing company, which he eventually succeeded in taking over, but his division failed. He became CEO at the age of 29, sold MTech in 1988, and within days set up an affiliated computer service that provides computer and other business process services to clients such as E-ZPass. Originally, ACS processed data for the financial industry, but under Deason’s leadership, the company experienced a major expansion. It started working for other sectors and industries such as education, government, financial services, healthcare, retail, manufacturing, tourism, transportation, insurance and communications. He later took ACS public and then sold it to Xerox in 2010 for $6.4 billion. Deason and his fifth wife, Katerina, who is 27 years his junior, are now enjoying his wealth, mostly in Dallas, San Diego and their 205-foot yacht Apogee.
