Damien Woody was born in Beaverdam, Virginia in 1977 and played college football at Boston College. The New England Patriots selected Woody with the 17th pick in the first round of the 1999 NFL Draft.
He played with the Patriots from 1999 to 2003. Woody was named to a Pro Bowl during his time with the Patriots and was part of two Super Bowl-winning teams. He was forced out of Super Bowl XXXVIII, but did play during Super Bowl XXXVI. Woody signed a free agent contract with the Detroit Lions before the 2004 season. He played two seasons before being sidelined with an injury in 2006. Before the 2008 season, Woody signed a five-year, $25 million contract with the New York Jets. He was injured in the Jets’ playoffs at the end of the 2010 season and was released in early 2011. The offensive lineman soon retired and took up a job as an analyst for ESPN. Three years later, he was a contestant on the NBC reality show “The Biggest Loser: The Glorious Years,” which premiered in the fall of 2014. Woody and his wife Nicole have six children.
